The La Fonda Latina location in Candler Park is a great place to grab a quick, tasty lunch. The restaurant is near the corner of McLendon Ave and Clifton, tucked away in the small business district of Candler Park. It is a friendly neighborhood eatery, which offers casual dining that is served up fast and hot.
The restaurant is small on the inside and simply decorated, but they do have an area that opens up for open-air dining as well. Parking can be tight but is available on side streets. Their menu options include a number of traditional Cuban and Mexican favorites.
I had their Seafood Paella, which is their house specialty. Paella is a traditional Spanish dish served in a skillet with yellow rice with calamari, shrimp, chicken, chorizo (Spanish Sausage), green peppers, onions, pimentos and clam juice. The serving for one person is just about perfect. They add plenty of seafood to their mix, which tastes delicious.
Our Team also tried the Fish Tacos, which included two soft tacos with a choice of grilled, seasoned tilapia or fresh salmon, lettuce, tomatoes and a sour cream jalapeño sauce. The serving was generous with some great tasting fish.
They also have a number of Cuban style dishes from the grill such Ribeye Steak, Pork Chops, and Grilled Vegetable Kabobs. All their Cuban Sandwiches are served flattened and grilled with yellow rice and black beans. Mexican dishes include Quesadillas, Tacos, Burritos and Enchiladas. They also serve beer and wine, as well as margaritas.
