A few of my Indian friends recommended Café Bombay as one of the best Indian restaurants in town, and it did not disappoint. Café Bombay offers fantastic Indian food in a unique setting that is perfect for a relaxed dining experience with friends or an inviting mid-day lunch.
In addition to traditional dining, they have special private dining rooms with pillow cushions placed around low tables to create a more intimate setting. The restaurant is decorated with numerous Indian artifacts and statues and overall, the setting is quiet and peaceful.
I had the popular lunch buffet and was impressed with the variety and freshness of the dishes. It was amazing how quickly the restaurant filled up during lunch hour, with a large number of nearby college students looking for a reasonably priced, but delicious lunch buffet. Indian food can be traditionally very spicy, but for those who prefer their food a little less spicy, Café Bombay has you covered with a number of different options as well.
Their freshly cooked food is prepared with the use of a clay oven (Tandoor) and the Indian Wok (karhai), to create a harmony of subtle flavors, tastes, and colors.
The menu includes a number of lamb and goat delicacies including Sheek Kabab Wrap and Goat Curry, along with a variety of rice served with different meats and vegetables. In addition to seafood specialties, there are also a number of vegetarian delights like the Sarsoon Ka Saag (spinach and mustard leaves), Bombay Aloo (tiny potatoes) and Bhindi Masala.
To add to the overall ambience, Café Bombay offers live belly dancing every Friday and Saturday Night, except when there is a private event. Please call ahead for details.
