I still remember passing by the Flying Biscuit Café while taking morning walks on the weekend down McLendon Ave in Candler Park back in the early 1990s. There was always a large line of patrons patiently waiting outside the restaurant. It was a popular community gathering point among the eclectic group of people living there.
People could be seen immersed in conversations, reading the newspaper or tending to their pets outside. I knew back then that the Flying Biscuit had something special going on…
The original Flying Biscuit opened in 1993 in Candler Park and has tripled in size and décor with a bakery right next door. The Flying Biscuit has grown immensely over the years. They now boast franchise locations throughout the Atlanta area as well as Florida and North Carolina.
The Flying Biscuit serves breakfast all day including dishes such as their Smoked Salmon Scramble, Piedmont Omelette, Veggie Scramble and Orange Scented French Toast to name a few. Sandwiches include their Fried Egg Sandwich, BBQ Chicken Burrito, and Fried Green Tomato BLT. Some of their dinner options include Shrimp & Grits, Coca-Cola BBQ Glazed Salmon and Flat Iron Steak. Of course, they are famous for their signature biscuits served with homemade cranberry apple butter.
