If seafood is your thing, then Mariscos el Malecon may become your new favorite go-to restaurant for fresh seafood. Located near the corner of Claremont Ave and Buford Highway, you’ll find your favorite seafood prepared in interesting ways (including traditional Mexican) and served in VERY large servings.
Mariscos el Malecon is housed in a large, modern area with a circular bar. The restaurant is decorated tastefully with some tropical decor to increase the ambience of an ocean vibe. They have an actual separate room for an Arcade with lots of video games to keep children happy and occupied while families are enjoying their lunch/dinner.
Each service begins with complementary ceviche de marlin served on tortillas which are a great start to any meal. I also ordered the Ceviche de camaron, which even though it was the smaller size, was a huge portion that could feed two easily The dish included tomates, pepinos, cebollas rojas, cilantro, pimientos, cocinado en jugo de limón. Tomatoes, cucumber, red onions, cilantro, and peppers, cooked in lemon juice. Mexican ceviche is so good!
As if the Ceviche de Camaron was not enough, I ordered the Pina Rellana as my entrée. A very interesting dish, you are served a fresh half pineapple stuffed with shrimp, octopus, surimi, green and red peppers, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese. I chose to leave the cheese off, but absolutely loved the seafood items covered in a Mushroom Crème sauce. My dish came with fries, salad, rice and bread, which made for a gigantic, delicious meal. There is no way you can leave hungry from here.
Other favorites on the item are lobster tails, fish fillet, oysters in the shell, whole red snapper, snow crab, shrimp and much more. If you are serious about your seafood, you can’t go wrong with this menu.
TIP: Weekends can get busy with live music. If you are looking for a quieter meal, try weekday afternoons during lunch.
