Opened in 2006, The Grove is a casual restaurant/tavern in the Oak Grove Community that attracts a mixture of people of all ages from the surrounding neighborhoods. The restaurant is located minutes from major highways and is convenient to the Northlake Mall area. The food is reasonably priced for families or a night out with friends.
Owner and Operator, Robert Shellenberger, and his father transformed this old gas station into a warm, community-gathering place. It’s lively enough to enjoy the friendly atmosphere, but not overly loud to allow for conversation with friends and family.
Kind of a mixture between a Sports Bar and a Community Pub, there are plenty of big screen TVs to keep up on all the local sports action. There are many wooden booths and tables in the bar area as well seating in the room next door. There is also a small outside patio as well at the front entrance.
They have a very extensive menu offering Wings, Wraps, Burgers, Chicken Sandwiches, Burritos, Sandwiches and even some Vegetarian options. Make sure to ask about their extensive list of daily specials. Their food choices have received many positive reviews on Yelp.
We opened with some delicious soft pretzels appetizers and clam dip with bread and chips. They also offer other tempting appetizers like Hummus, Beer Battered Mushrooms, Onion Rings, Asian Spring Rolls and Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, to name a few.
I enjoyed the jerk-seasoned Chicken Wings with a raspberry dipping sauce with carrots and celery. Not too spicy, the Wings were seasoned well and filling. The raspberry sauce was a nice alternative to the usual ranch or blue cheese dip. Their signature Burger is also awesome and hearty.
The Grove also offers Trivia Night and Free Wi-Fi. Come mingle with the locals and enjoy their great service while soaking up the authentic “eat like a local” ambiance.
